Glow Getter: Jainne Azevedo

My name is Jainne Azevedo, but everyone calls me Jay. Jay Azevedo is the woman behind Neon Beauty (@neonblounge). I specialize in Natural Brows and Lip Enhancement, at one of the most reputable studios in Toronto, Bianca & Co Studio.

 You're quite the beauty guru, could you briefly explain how you fell in love with your career? What's the driving force behind what you do every day?

When I was 16 years old and doing my mom's eyebrows, she told me I should invest in the beauty industry. She saw natural talent in everything I was doing with makeup and modelling. I laughed at this because I was programmed to believe that a ‘successful’ career could only be something professional like a doctor or engineer, something "9-5" for financial stability and security. Funny how everyone says, "mothers know everything," because it’s true! When I was 21 I moved to Canada, all by myself, to study engineering. Before I could start the 1st year of school, I literally couldn’t sleep knowing that the conventional, corporate life wasn’t really what I wanted. That’s when I realized I needed to leave behind what I thought was right for me and instead invest in “doing eyebrows”. But “doing eyebrows” isn’t so simple. It’s providing people with self-confidence and giving back something they perhaps have lost. That makes me feel so good! Knowing that I am able to do what I love while also helping people by just enhancing what they naturally have. By giving them the most beautiful version of their OWN unique brows/lips and help boost their self-confidence! I’d say that is what really drives me. 

What's something you do to empower your clients when they visit the studio?

When our clients come to the studio I want them to have a relaxing experience with good energy. I want them to have the best time and leave their appointment feeling good and confident. I love to be their resource for all beauty related information and provide guidance with even the simplest things. Like small steps they can add to their beauty routine, for example. I love that stuff!! 

Have you always cared for your skin? Was there a moment or time in your life that propelled you into the world of skincare?

I’ve always tried to care for my skin but didn’t have the proper knowledge or guidance to do it the right way. 

When my mentor Nicole introduced me to Miracle 10, it was such a game changer for me. A friend of mine tried it first and after seeing her dramatic results, I NEEDED it for myself too. I’m so happy to say my skin has also changed and improved so much! 

 How do you make time for your skincare routine? Are you someone who likes to follow each skincare step every night?

Every night and every morning! This is the only thing that I can say I do everyday, religiously! I never used to be this way but once I got into a routine with Miracle 10, I am hooked and even mildly obsessed lol My favorites products are the SPF, Solution I, Cleanser II & the Light Serum. Luckily I don’t have any major skin issues like acne or texture so these few products go such a long way for me! 

What are some of your core values that you remind yourself everyday - especially during these stressful times?

I’m a glass half full kind of person. For me, staying positive is so important in any situation.Don’t get me wrong - It doesn’t mean I don’t ever have bad days or thoughts. But trying to be optimistic helps me see the light at the end of the tunnel and gives me gratitude for how far I’ve come, so those hard days become much easier. 

What’s currently in your bag? What can’t you leave the house with?

Honestly (and I’m not just saying this) but I always have the Light Serum and the SPF on me. I leave for the gym very early so I need to have them with me after my workout. For non beauty related, my phone lol. Super predictable but it’s the truth. Literally, everything we need involves a phone or the internet, it’s nuts!

A Glow Getter to me is a person that is able to fight their own battles with integrity and humbleness, everyday. Someone who is not afraid of being themselves and will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
