The Importance of Using One Brand for Your Skincare Regime
When it comes to skincare products, it’s always best to use a single specific brand. Why? When a skincare brand contains an array of products, usually these products feature specific ingredients that work synergistically, therefore providing efficient and enhanced results.
Additionally, ingredients are extremely important in skincare; hence the brand will always focus on their formulation. This is especially true when products consist of alpha-hydroxy acids or retinols, which should only be mixed with certain counterparts.
Why Mixing and Matching Doesn’t Work
At Miracle 10, we use a variety of active ingredients that, in their formulations, may not be compatible with other brands’. Because you can’t be sure skincare brands are compatible with each other, as products are only tested for individual performance, it’s best to use one brand of products that are formulated specifically to complement each other.
When these specific ingredients are present in each product of the brand, they work together by prepping and activating the skin. As mentioned, combining different brands of skincare can cause irritation for the skin as the ingredients may not be compatible with each other.
The Benefits of using one Skincare Brand, and one Skincare Brand Only
Following a routine of the same skincare brand will dramatically improve the skin’s appearance, especially for conditions such as acne, psoriasis, or rosacea, as it will address those issues with each product in the brand’s collection.
Typically, the routine and products of one skincare brand should include the following
A cleanser to remove the day’s dirt, oil, bacteria and makeup
A toner to balance out the pH level of the skin as well as remove any remaining bits of oil, dirt and debris left behind by the cleanser
An activator such as an alpha-hydroxy acid based serum/cream OR retinol product to slough off dead skin cells, revealing the smoother and more evenly pigmented underlying skin
A protective eye treatment to keep the sensitive skin beneath the eyes hydrated and youthful-looking
A nourishing day/night moisturizer to hydrate the skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, dryness, and uneven tone
A SPF 30 to protect the skin from premature aging, brown spots, hyperpigmentation, or worse, skin cancer, or the development of a precancerous mole
Above all, when investing in a skincare brand, you should be looking for one that offers a guarantee behind each and every product for skin improvement and satisfied results. It’s also important to read the product literature because educating yourself is one of the best ways to keep your skin looking forever extraordinary.
