Movember Skincare Musts

Movember Skincare Musts

Ah, November at last🧔 For those of you who partake in Movember, whether a participant or spectator, the first and last of the month always brings excitement and intrigue. And while we may not be as heavily invested with the hair on your or your man's face, we are *quite* invested in the skin underneath it. That's why we're excited to follow along this facial hair journey and of course, spread awareness of this important cause.

If you're not familiar with Movember, it is an annual charity event held in November encouraging the growth of moustaches and beards of facial-hair varieties to raise awareness of men's health issues. These concerns include prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health awareness. While some people end up quite fond of the stash, others may be anticipating the arrival of December 1st but not for the reasons you may think.

You see, for those of you who rarely grow facial hair, your skin is in for quite the surprise. Pre-stache, you may have had limited experience with skin concerns or, on the other end of the spectrum, highly specific concerns such as acne. You've got your favourite products and they never fail you. Unfortunately, the growth of facial hair does directly impact the state of your skin. Think about it like this: Each hair follicle on your body is accompanied by an oil gland (sebaceous gland). These glands do wonders for the skin but if not aided with the use of proper skincare, can cause a myriad of concerns. In regards to men and facial hair, those concerns can include the development of seborrheic dermatitis or facial dandruff, cystic acne and ingrown hairs, and the dreaded itch.

Don't let these irritations get in the way of your Movember goals! If you're determined to forego shaving for the entire month while raising awareness for this excellent cause, you've come to the right place. We've put together this simple and to-the-point care guide to support all who are participating in Movember.

Must #1: Do not overly strip your skin with cleansers

Thoroughly massage M10 for Men Wash onto dampened skin for about a minute or two, then wash away with lukewarm water. Our gentle cleanser has hydrating and exfoliating properties designed to deeply cleanse your pores, removing excess sebum and skin debris. Unlike many cleansers, our formulation is gentle to the touch leaving your skin supple and clean. You don't want your skin to be overly stripped of oils as that promotes itchy, dry and irritated skin.

Must #2: Incorporate an exfoliator 2-3x a week

While your face is still wet, follow through with M10 for Men Scrub using a gentle hand for 30-60 seconds. You'll want to incorporate this step a few times a week. Scrub is a powerful conditioning product with exotic fruit enzymes that helps to exfoliate the dead skin that is trapped under your facial hair. It contains non-irritating scrubbing particles to dissolve skin cells, perfect for dermatitis-prone people.

Must #3: Never forget to moisturize

Hydration, hydration, hydration. Apply a small amount of M10 for Men Hydrate to your damp and freshly cleansed face and neck. Hydrate contains peptides such as amino acids that are essential to healthy skin. These peptides improve cell function, elastin and collagen production - it even promotes firmer-looking skin. Talk about a one-and-done.

Must #4: Lock it all in with a facial oil

Last but certainly not least, finish off your routine with a few pumps of Botanical Oil Concentrate for some deeply nourishing effects. We call it our golden elixir as it contains 12 flower, seed, and fruit oil extracts that work to provide the perfect solution for chronically dry skin. Why you'll love it: Its dry-touch formula doesn't make your skin glossy while still delivering all the goods.
