One ingredient we see advertised in so many skincare products is hyaluronic acid. It's become ubiquitous with "good" skincare, but what is it, and why exactly do you want it in your routine? Let's dive in.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a sugar that is already present in your skin, and its biggest selling point is hydration. You'll often read that it can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water, and it can effectively bind water to collagen and make the skin appear more hydrated, plump and refreshed.
As a hydrator (or more formally known as a humectant), it does a great job of maintaining hydration and facilitating increased moisture because it's always attracting water and helping to infuse that into the skin. It creates a stronger skin barrier, which in turn helps to improve your skin's ability to protect against environmental damage and early signs of aging, maintain good texture and promote cell turnover (which then leads to preventing hyperpigmentation and promoting skin radiance).
The great thing about HA is that it's something literally everyone can benefit from, no matter your skin type. It's the equivalent of drinking your eight glasses of water a day for your skin (though you should still do that for overall great skin & health) and very rarely does it cause any kind of irritation or disturbance to the skin.
How can you add this to your routine?
Since it's so effective and helpful in treating our skin, we've added it to quite a few Miracle 10 products.
Of course, using a moisturizer with HA is the easiest way to make sure you've got this in your routine, and you can find it in Light Serum, Eye Treatment, Moisture, Rich Moisture, Firm and Night. In our Platinum collection, it can be found in Face Lift, Neck Lift, Eye Lift and Night Repair.
And, because we love packing formulas with effective, results-driven ingredients, we've also included HA in our AHA Cream (perfect for those who want a powerful AHA product but have delicate or sensitive skin), Rejuvenating Mist for those mid-day pick-me-ups, Mask for a powerful, deep weekly treatment, Enzyme for physical exfoliation that doesn't overdo it, and in our Toner (for those who want the effects of chemical exfoliation while balancing keeping skin hydrated and soothed).
