So, What’s Really the Deal with Vitamin C?

We’ve all done it. You start feeling a little under the weather and immediately reach for some type of vitamin C fix to jump-start your immune system. But what do you reach for when your skin looks like it could use a pick-me-up? This superstar ingredient not only helps heal your body internally but works wonders on your skin. When vitamin C is applied topically, its power is magnified and the results will provide you with compliments for days.

We’re breaking down all the ways you can improve your skin’s overall luminosity and glow with a dose of vitamin C!

Vitamin C and Your Skin

Vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid and L-ascorbic acid, is a naturally occurring chemical already found in your skin. Biologically speaking, this antioxidant is a key player in your anti-aging arsenal as it boosts collagen production, improves the look of hyperpigmentation and protects your skin from free radicals from UV rays.

Collagen Booster

Vitamin C has the incredible ability to boost collagen production. When there is collagen loss, wrinkles become visible and pores appear larger. Vitamin C stimulates collagen growth for thicker, tighter and plumper skin.

Pigmentation Eraser

Known for its great antioxidant rich benefits, vitamin C helps reveal luminosity, smooths skin tone as well as lightens age spots and discolouration caused by sun damage.

Sunshine Protection

Vitamin C can protect your skin from UVA & UVB radiation along with other environmental aggressors. This, in turn, makes your skin look younger longer. Please note that vitamin C should not be used in lieu of Sunscreen.

The Right Way to Use Vitamin C

There are several derivatives of vitamin C that can be found in skincare products such as Ascorbyl Palmitate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate and our favourite, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. Vitamin C is known for being a highly unstable molecule that can immediately oxidize when exposed to air, light, and heat. With Super C, we wanted to create the most effective vitamin C product possible. We formulated Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) into a light, fine powder to create the most stable form that won’t oxidize or cause irritation to the skin.

Vitamin C needs to be used properly in order for you to get the best results. Thankfully, Super C is 100% SAP that instantly dissolves into any Miracle 10 AHA gel or cream. We recommend combining Super C into one of our specifically formulated AHA products to maximize your radiance and glow. During your morning routine, apply a Sunscreen Lotion 20-30 minutes prior to sun exposure, then at night, mix 1 part Super C to 4 parts of either an AHA Gel or AHA Cream to continue protecting your skin from environmental damage that lingers overnight.

In the morning, be prepared for a luminous, healthy glow!
